Congratulations, Macy and John! I had the pleasure of photographing their Sundance Square engagement session recently. Macy and John were a joy to work with as we explored this Fort Worth neighborhood. It’s clear that they absolutely adore each other and can’t wait to get married at the Gardenia in January!
In true 2020 fashion, John and Macy met in a crazy way (according to them!). In September of 2020, John had followed Macy on Instagram due to them having some mutual friends. After receiving a follow back, John messaged Macy to try his luck! Although it was only a “Hey”, it was enough to spark a conversation that turned into a happily ever after story. Macy and John immediately exchanged numbers, and took their conversation off social media to text the same night.
This communication lasted for 2 weeks until Macy and John finally thought they should meet in person. Luckily, John went to school in Jackson, TN which was only 2 hours away from Macy in Oxford, MS. John came down for a football game at the end of September, and met up with Macy and all her friends. The two hit it off instantly and felt like they had known each other way longer than 2 weeks. John stayed the weekend in Oxford, and the two had an amazing time.
When it was time for John to leave, Macy actually hit him with the “let’s just be friends’” because it seemed to all be moving quickly! She told John that even though she had a blast that weekend that maybe they should still get to know each other. John left Oxford thinking he would never see Macy again. Three days later, Macy called him and asked John if he wanted to come back to Oxford that weekend, and this time….. meet her parents. Macy knew there was no avoiding the feelings she had for John and how special their relationship was.
As you can see, they’re definitely meant to be! One of the best parts of my job is truly getting to watch my couples just BE themselves together during our portraits. Macy and John laughed, snuggled, and talked as if I wasn’t there while I photographed them – and that’s exactly what I want. I want them to feel comfortable and like I’m just capturing who they are in real life. They are both so sweet and I can’t wait to see them become husband and wife in January!!
